On March 7th, 2023, MDTCL Kuala Lumpur CEO Ariffin Samsudin held a press conference to address the successful raid carried out on Petaling Street, codenamed “OPS PUTRA,” on March 5th, 2023. This operation, in collaboration with Kuala Lumpur City Hall (KLCH), the Immigration Department of Malaysia, and the Royal Malaysian Police, resulted in the confiscation of counterfeit goods valued at MYR 570,000.

During the raid, a total of 2,662 items, including handbags, wallets, shoes, and watches from various brands, were seized. Additionally, two local men, who claimed to be the owners of the store, were arrested. The operation also uncovered that foreigners, including 23 Bangladeshis, 11 Myanmarese, six Nepalese, three Indonesians, and one Filipino, were employed as salesmen in the area.

The case is being investigated under several laws, including the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorist Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLATFPUAA 2001), Trademark Act 2019, Trade Description Act 2011, and the Copyright Act 1987.

For the year 2023, MDTCL has recorded 25 cases, resulting in the seizure of 24,537 items worth RM 1.2 million. Under Ops Jeriji 4.0, a total of 13 individuals have been arrested.
